What color do you like roses? Red, white, yellow, or blue … …? Japan’s Suntory Ltd. announced this week two, the company will start selling next month, the world’s first genetically modified blue rose. This new study about flowers lasted 20 years.
This large whiskey distilling business, said the company and the Australian company called “flower genes” bio-technology companies, in 2004, successfully developed a blue rose.
The company said the Blue Rose can be generated through the implantation of a tri-color violet blue flowers contained in the cultivation made Tsui pigment genes.
In 2008, the Japanese government based on an international bio-security protocols, approved the products. Suntory company said, after they spent a year’s time to build the production and marketing system.
According to the company, this new rose was named “Encore”, “could serve as a wedding anniversary or birthday such a special occasion luxury gifts.”
This blue roses expected to sell for between 2000-3000 yen each (collectively, between 22-33 U.S. dollars), than in Japan priced ten times the normal rose.
At present, the company has not sold overseas plans for this new species.
